Located at an altitude of over 3700 meters, at the lower side of Thorong La mountain pass, Muktinath is a holy site for both Hindus and Buddhists. I'm sure Lord Vishnu would pardon my ignorance if I confess that I went there to get a closer glimpses of mighty Himalayas and to experience slightly wilder portions of the Annapurna trekking trail rather than as a devotee. If you are a pilgrim and least interested to trek, you may directly reach Muktinath by two available options. Take a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom and then couple of hours bouncy jeep drive, or, private tour operators arrange for helicopters (which carry 6-8 tourists) from different hubs of Nepal to Muktinath.
