Firoz Minar at Gaur

Firoz Minar at Gaur
Firoz Minar is located at Gaur (pronounced as 'Gour' in Bengali), a historical ruined city quite close to India-Bangladesh border, in the Maldah district of West Bengal. This tower is almost 25.60 meters high with spiral staircase and 73 steps up to the top, was built around 1486 AD probably by Saifuddin Firoz, an Abyssinian who procured the crown of Sultan by killing Barbak Shah. Like most other minarets of India, the entry to this Firoz Minar to ascend to its top is restricted for visitors, off course due to safety reasons only.
