Foreign Tourists exploring Incredible India

Foreign Tourists exploring Incredible India
India ranks third among countries with the fastest growing tourism industries in the world. Before I put my request or message, it is worthy to mention few facts taken from wiki. It was calculated that tourism industry generated about 6.4 trillion INR, supported 39.5 million jobs in 2012 and it was estimated that tourism would grow at an average annual rate of 7.9% from 2013 to 2023. What a positive sign indeed! But I'm sure these statistics would have been better if we're more tourist-friendly. I'm not talking of all, so please don't take my words otherwise. Leaving those horrific stories of newspaper, in many occasions I have found foreign female tourists are being badly ogled, commented or insisted for photography. I never acted like Sunny Deol and slapped those culprits but at times I tried to intervene and dilute the ongoing drama. So, please ensure that foreign tourists who visit us to explore our incredible India return home with only pleasant memories and respectable image of cooperative Indians. Don't just watch the TV Ad "Atithi Devo Bhava" and clap with hollow pride, put it in some action.

  1. Rightly said. Unless we take care of these essentials, we can't expect the result.

  2. I do wish the indian govt does work on the upkeep of the historical places and other areas, as tourism can be a great money churner for our nation

    1. Bikram you're right but my concern is more towards the reaction from our side, at least that is something we can regulate/improve before blaming the Govt :)

  4. This is a nice take on the perspective of people towards tourists. We've all seen tourists being ogled at, as you rightly put. But if the stats are believed to be true, I believe action needs to be taken by both the Government, with a move to improve the heritage value of India, and the people, aiming to create and find more jobs in the booming tourism industry.
Both these actions taken simultaneously will cause a creation of a tourist-friendly environment where tourists will not feel like outsiders and will not be looked at with a different outlook. What say?

    1. Yes... agree.... But then again, I'm not in a position to pass bills... can tweak with own outlook only... So, I intentionally kept Govt out of this :-P

  5. Why just foreign tourists? Charity begins at home. Start with women from our own country. The day we start respecting them, recognizing them more than an "item", we'll learn to respects others as well.
